Dublin Hacks and Hackers Hack Day

logo Hacks and Hackers Hack Day (what a name!) is an event organised by ScraperWiki. It appears to be aimed at connecting journalists (hacks) with programmers (hackers) over the course of a (hack) day, to help them to harvest or analyse public data, and from that, form the basis of potential news stories.

This is an interesting concept, and one that tries to get around the scarcity of linked open data by scraping the data from existing web sources (hence the ScraperWiki moniker).

As part of their tour, ScraperWiki is organising a Dublin Hacks and Hackers Hack Day, to be held on Tuesday, November 16, as part of the Innovation Dublin festival.

Unfortunately, the HHH day clashes with the SFI Science Summit, so I don’t think that I’ll be able to make it, but it definitely looks like an interesting exercise.

Moving the photos

If you’re not bothered about my attempts at photography, then you’ll be delighted to read about this. I’ve decided to move all my photography related posts off into their own category, aptly named photos.

From now on, I’ll keep the main blog page on the site to my notes and opinions. I haven’t updated the RSS feeds yet, but will do so shortly.
